THE BENEFITS OF EQUINE THERAPY
1/ Mental Health Awareness: There is growing understanding of the positive mental health benefits that Equine Therapy and Assisted Equine Therapy can offer, in the areas of trauma, depression, lack of self-confidence, anxiety, PTSD and more. As traditional therapies expand to include more holistic and experiential approaches, Equine Therapy is fast becoming established as an alternative route or complementary route to traditional counselling/psychotherapy. From a personal point of view I have witnessed how a combination of Equine Therapy and Person Centred Counselling can assist people dealing with a variety of issues.
2/ Research and Validation: Equine Therapy is becoming more validated by increased scientific research. Everyday more studies are being published that demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach. Thorough research helps to standardise practise and help to develop a more evidence based approach.
3/ Wider Access: The advancement of AI and other technology is making Equine Therapy more accessible to a global audience. It also makes it more reachable for those who are based in cities and unable to access equine facilities.
All of the above are helping to put Equine Therapy on the map as an alternative route for those who need therapy via experiential rather than room based methods.
